The Bannett Group recently hosted an internal superintendent training session presented by John Pankok and Hans Rikson of Colliers Engineering and Design.
The training session was designed to equip our field operations staff to better understand the various types of engineering surveys, along with a detailed explanation of the processes involved in engineering surveys and construction layout, from initial establishment of boundary markers and elevations, right up through the as-built documentation phase of the project. During a question & answer session, a lively discussion ensued about the pitfalls and lessons-learned from past project mistakes related to misunderstanding and misinterpretations with construction layout in the field. The session concluded with an outdoor demonstration of layout best practices using Colliers Engineering digital surveying equipment, including best practices for placing and interpreting layout control stakes in the field.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to John Pankok and Hans for the insightful presentation on surveying practices. Your expertise and practical knowledge not only reaffirmed essential techniques but also highlighted critical information that our site crews need to continue operating efficiently and safely. It’s invaluable to have such resources and guidance to ensure we maintain the highest standards on our projects. Looking forward to applying these insights in the field!
